Profile
Lumbalumba Resort is an informal, small and comfortable dive resort in Manado, North Sulawesi, Indonesia. With no more than six luxurious chalets (9 rooms), we offer a familiar and flexible atmosphere with the personalized attention you are looking for.
Lumbalumba Resort is a complete resort with its own accommodation, excellent cuisine, bar, infinity pool, dive center on a private jetty, and spacious, custom-built dive boats. We dive in small groups, often 1 guide to 2 divers and maximum 4. All our guides are very experienced with 20 plus years of dives under their belt.
Free wifi is available throughout the resort, and spa treatments can be arranged in your own room. Located on a 3.5 hectare mountain slope surrounded by lush botanical gardens, we also have one of the most spectacular views you can find in Manado.
Our gardens are truly a living project and continuous in development. A wide variety of (fruit) trees, palms, orchids, bamboo, bougainville and other tropical plants are part of your daily views. We are always looking for new species and over the years have collected a great collection of different plants and trees. Carefully landscaped between huge volcanic stones, slopes and ponds, a stroll through our garden will not disappoint you!
Our philosophy and mission is simple: We can only survive if you are satisfied. That is why we choose to be small. That way we are able to give you the extra service you wish for.
The spectacular and world famous diving reefs of Bunaken Marine Park are all around us. That is a present from mother nature. The rest we do.
And not Just diving and snorkeling…
Although diving and snorkeling in Bunaken are the main activities at Lumbalumba Diving, we have more to offer such as:
- Cultural land tours
- Rain forest excursions
- White water rafting
- Para gliding
“For us, you are not just another tourist. For you, we are not just another dive resort”.

This is one of the best dive resorts we have been to. Highlights: diving knowledge, dive boats, friendly, clean and complete accommodations, location, house reef, services, food, garden … not much that is missed out in this resort with an excellent view from our cabin.
Highly recommended.
Excellent resort, dive boats very comfortable, good dive guides.
The best dive resort ever. Very kind, helpful and experienced crew. Nice dive spots at Bunaken national park. Beautiful and comfortable accomodation and beautiful garden. What else do you need for a perfect holiday?
Been to LumbaLumba 3 times and am going back for the 4th..
Service and hospitality are second to none. Food is fresh and delicious. Bungalows are clean and comfortable. The management goes out of their way to make the stay the best..
The DIVING.. I’ve been all over the world.. the undersea life is profuse; the dive guides are professional. They know exactly where the good stuff is hiding.Once you go to LumbaLumba you will return.
We have been to LumbaLumba once and this is the first resort where I would definitely want to go back to. The resort is amazing: spacious lodges, personal, great food (also for vegetarians), wonderful garden, big eternity pool. The diversity in diving is everything you ever wanted: you have the beautiful walls at Bunaken with numerous turtles and big schools of fishes. Close by you have great macro opportunities, countless nudibranches, leaffish, frogfish, mantis shrimp, etc. Be sure to bring your underwater magnifying glass because the dive guides spot the most incredible, smallest critters you can imagine.
We’ve been twice scuba diving with this resort and intend to do it a 3rd time. Excellent infrastructures. Beautiful sites. Well maintained equipment. Very professional staff. We recommend.
Coming up on my fourth visit. Diving is incomparable.. The dive operation is about the best I have encountered. And the diving!!!!! Bungalows are comfortable..
Juud and Roel are the consumate hosts. the food is fresh and tasty.
We visited LumbaLumba diving for 2 weeks. Never a dull moment, beautifull divesites, excelent guides and very friendly resort staff. We did the Minahasa tour as well, great experience! For sure a divecenter worth visiting!
What a wonderful place! We fell in love with LumbaLumba! The grounds are beautiful with amazing views! Loved the food and fellow guests! Our chalet was very comfortable with a wonderful view! The diving was fantastic! Beautiful walls and reefs with terrific variety of critters and dive sites. I am a dedicated macro photographer and was not disappointed. They catered to our dive site preferences and I cannot say enough great things about our time there. Roel and Juud are fantastic hosts and the entire place is a labor of love that they have built over the course of 20+ years. We cannot wait to go back!
We’ve been visiting LumbaLumba pretty much every year since the late 1990’s so we’re clearly happy with the resort, the extraordinary diving and friendliness. Fabulous diving – Walls & Black Sand – plenty of places to visit and things to see & do if you’re not into diving (PS: LumbaLumba offers excellent snorkelling opportunities). Oh yes, and the food’s brilliant as is the infinity pool!
