Published

on

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERADiving holiday specialist Regaldive is offering a great range of savings on Maldives liveaboards this Autumn, starting with the latest addition to the programme, MV Emperor Atoll.

This 26m liveaboard caters for 12 guests in six twin-berth cabins and its comfortable size makes this boat ideal for charter by diving centres and groups of friends. MV Emperor Atoll might be short on size but there is certainly no compromise on the diving. Divers have the pick of five fantastic itineraries that make the most of the seasonal highlights of the Maldives.

Until the end of 2014, divers can join The Best of the Maldives trip aboard MV Emperor Atoll at an introductory rate starting from just £759pp. This itinerary takes in the iconic sites of North Male, South Male and Ari Atoll and offers every chance to encounter mantas, whale sharks, sharks and much more. This package includes seven nights cabin share, three meals per day plus afternoon snacks and one BBQ night, unlimited drinking water, tea and coffee, 17 dives per week, guide, tanks, free nitrox fills and weights. Flights are not included but can be arranged by Regaldive with a variety of scheduled airlines to take advantage of the best available seasonal offers. The Best of the Maldives itinerary is also offered on the larger MV Emperor Voyager.

For the 2015 season, MV Emperor Atoll will introduce the Sharktastic and Pelagic Magic itineraries, as well as a series of back to back itineraries that will take full advantage of the peak manta season (August to October) visiting legendary Hanifaru Bay in Baa atoll and other more northerly dive sites.

Also in the Maldives, divers can save up to £290pp on selected trips aboard MV Ari Queen this Autumn. This attractive and spacious boat is a favourite with Regaldive guests and offers a choice of cabin styles for a maximum of 20 divers. MV Ari Queen operates out of Male and follows a flexible itinerary around the central atolls to maximise chances to see whitetip sharks, grey sharks, manta rays, turtles, whale sharks and even hammerheads. Fully inclusive packages start from just £1493pp to include scheduled flights, transfers, seven nights cabin share on a full board basis and 17 dives.

Regaldive is also offering last minute availability on MY Sheena at the discounted rate of £2170pp on a Southern Maldivian trip departing 4 October 2014. MY Sheena offers guests the chance to dive rarely visited sites across Meemu, Thaa and Laamu atolls where there is considerably less tourism development and some truly original and exploratory diving. This package is fully inclusive of scheduled flights, sea plane transfers, seven nights cabin share on a full board basis, all diving with free nitrox fills, and offers a saving of £382pp on the original price.

Santa Divers take the Plunge for Charity

Ho Ho Ho! Vobster Quay’s recording-breaking charity Santa diving event returns on Sunday 15th December 2024 for another round of festive fundraising frivolities. Run in aid of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and Help For Heroes, this ever-popular annual fundraising event aims to raise sack-loads of cash for these two very deserving charities.

Divers of all levels are invited to grab their Santa outfits – and as much festive cheer as they can muster – and head down to Vobster Quay near Mells, Somerset for a mass sponsored Santa dive in aid of charity. In previous years, the event has attracted divers from the far corners of the UK to join in the festive merriment for a final festive dive before the Christmas and New Year break. Back in 2015, the event smashed the world record for the most Santa divers with 188 divers taking to the waters donning their festive finery – a record that remains unbeaten to this day!

Vobster Santas isn’t just about setting records – it’s also about raising some serious cash for charity. Vobster Quay encourages all divers to get into the spirit of the season to raise much-needed funds for two very deserving charities – the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and Help For Heroes.

Through individual sponsorship and online donations, divers can invite their friends, family and work colleagues to sponsor them to plunge into the balmy waters of Vobster Quay dressed in full festive finery. Since the very first Santa dive in 2007, the event has raised over £52,000 for charity. “It’s been over 17 years since the very first charity Santa dive took place at Vobster Quay and every year the event just keeps getting bigger and better” enthused Vobster Quay owner, Amy Stanton.

“Vobster Santas is a great way for divers to say a massive thank you to the both the RNLI and Help For Heroes – two very deserving charities close to our hearts. We’re immensely proud of all that Vobster Santas has achieved and hope that even more divers will join this year’s event on Sunday 15th December. I’m confident that we can make Vobster Santas 2024 the biggest yet!”.

Divers wishing to participate can get involved by simply registering their attendance at
