Profile
We have been running and diving liveaboards since the late 1980’s. In those days the point of a liveboard was to go to remote un-dived locations to explore and dive in pristine conditions away from the crowds. It was mind blowing! Today though, instead of a handful of boats, there are hundreds, and it’s now much harder to find these remote and quiet locations… but we do!
As such, we don’t offer standard fixed routes at all. We specify key dive sites that we will visit and then head out with the intention of keeping away from the masses of liveaboard convoys following each other from site to site on the fixed routes.
Our trips are very popular with the more experienced Red Sea liveaboard diver. They have been to the famous sites the media directs them to as must dive locations; however, they have seen and dived with the crowds and now want to dive the unspoilt Red Sea.
Liveaboards are actually all about diving. We aim to make each dive the very best it can be, giving you lasting memorable experiences you can’t wait to repeat.
The way we operate is why we have so many repeat guests. Everything is relaxed and calm, there is no rush, and we have 24 hours in a day to do 3 or 4 dives. So what’s the hurry?
We dive in small groups, usually a max of 6 or 8. Each group is spaced out so you are in the water with just your small group, not 24 [or 36 on some boats] divers swimming in a line being herded along. You dive as you want, to your certification level and experience.
We do not dive the convenient local sites, we dive only the best sites that we like to dive ourselves; sites we have dived hundreds of times and that still draw us in.

A real diver’s liveaboard, great staff, both diving and accom, great food and great diving. Been on the boat 3 times
And hopefully will be back again soon 🙂
Lovely relaxed boat with professional crew.
Food is very good, accommodation is well kept and the whole trip was organised in a very safe and understanding way, doing the South but hardly seeing other boats.
Excellent, thank you
Brilliant liveaboard, had a great week diving on a trip booked through The Scuba Place. The crew were really friendly and helpful and the dive guide Mo couldn’t have done more for us. Would definitely book again.
Recently back from Northern Wrecks & Reefs tour out of Hurghada.
The Big Blue, recently refurbished, provided an excellent base for diving & socialising.
The dive deck was efficiently run with free Nitrox on offer. The dive staff were efficient & helpful.
Food was excellent with snacks & drinks available 24 hours, alcoholic drinks extra.
Cabin facilities were good & more than sufficient for a dive holiday.
Diving war a good balance of wrecks & reefs every day, with up to 4 dives every day, with night dives on offer daily.
All dives were guided in several groups.
This was my 2nd time on Big Blue having previously done the South.
Would highly recommend!!!!
Great boat, fabulous diving, great food and above all amazing staff, booked already for next summer
We joined Big Blue on a southern Red Sea itinerary in July and it was hands down the best liveaboard experience I’ve had so far.
The boat itself is beautiful, well equipped, well maintained and with fantastic crew.
Food is always a biggie for me, and I felt truly spoiled with the meals and snacks we received.
But the diving is obviously the biggest reason to join a liveaboard, and each site we visited was exceptional! We mostly felt we had the sites to ourselves, our groups were kept small and abilities were well matched, and the guides were knowledgeable, helpful and professional.
I can’t wait to jump aboard again next year!
Only been on this dive boat once, but have been to affiliated resorts 10+ times. The boat is a clear extention of the roots red sea resort in terms of standards, levels of service and also the ease of going diving.
Big blue is easily one of the best dive boats I have been on, the living spaces are ample, the dive deck is great, staff are the best I have had.
Diving is My escape from the rat race and honestly big blue makes it stressless from pickup at the airport.
There is a reason I have been to the resort so much and am already planning my next trip back, but after the last time I was on the boat I think I may have to move my return visit to the resort onto the boat. Couldn’t think of a better boat for my mrs to have her first livaboard.
Great boat with a great crew. Done a week onboard September 2022 with The Scuba Place and was so relaxed. Could discuss where wanted to go and go some more unusual sites that were less crowded. The Million Hope was one of my favourite wrecks of the trip and we were the only boat on it. Others don’t normally include in itinerary. I love that about big blue and the guides and dive manager were great. Such an amazing week. Combine it with Roots Red Sea and you have a perfect dive holiday in Egypt.
This was my first, and hoepfully not last, Liveaboard. A wonderful experience to be amongst old friends, and meet new ones. The whole itinary and journey was structured, but quicky adapted to changes in weather, currents and available spaces, as well as providing us with a huge variety of experiences. The Guide (Mo) was superb and extremely helpful in making the safari work. The deck and catering staff were endless in their enthusiasm to help us, with excellent food and with our kit. It was a memorable adventure.
