Aquatica release A1D-C/X housing for the Canon EOS 1D C and 1D X
Aquatica Digital have announced the release of their A1D-C/X housing, the latest in their line of precision crafted aluminum housings, for Canon’s flagship 1D C and 1D X cameras.
The A1D-C/X housing is milled from a solid block of 6061 T6 aircraft grade aluminum, it is black anodized and then for further protection, a resistant polyester electrostatic powder coat paint is added. The A1D-C/X is also optimized for video shooters to take advantage of these cameras broadcast quality (1D-C: 4K cinematic quality video, and 1D-X: 1920 x 1080 HD video capture) HD video functions. All video controls are designed for easy reach and smooth operation through the housing. This includes a next-generation lens gearing system with a smaller housing pinion gear and a larger lens gear, allowing for a much smoother action while zooming in a video sequence. The Aquatica quick release tray delivers smooth and precise positioning of the camera in the housing and allows the user to insert and remove the camera using a simple push tab. The zoom /focus pinion gear and lens release lever also pull out so that the camera can be removed from the back while keeping a lens and zoom gear attached.
The video record on/off control lever is perfectly located on the right side of the housing. This lever is easily controlled with the thumb using a slight forward motion. All push buttons are made from high quality type 304 stainless steel and operate smoothly for a natural feel and intuitive operation.
The A1D-C/X will ship with Aquatica’s new atmospheric pressure sensitive circuitry and leak alarm. The circuit has a temperature compensation included, so any change in ambient temperature or changes in the internal temperature will not cause an incorrect reading. The onboard start actuating button is for the vacuum only; the alarm is always on. The A1D-C/X housing will ship with a bulkhead opening for future installation of the optional vacuum valves.
The A1D-C/X housing includes Aquatica’s own Galileo-type eye piece. This high quality and coated optical finder gives a bright and full view of the Aqua View and Aqua View 45 finder.
The A1D-C/X also retains Aquatica’s lightweight molded grips, which have threaded mounting holes ready to accept the mounting bracket of Aquatica’s TLC system and are compatible with most current strobes and lighting arms on the market. An extra mounting point for a focus/video light or other accessories is included on top of the housing and three additional mounting points are provided under the housing for various brackets, supports or tripods. It has a standard 90m/300ft depth rating and can be upgraded to a 130m/425ft depth rating.
The housing is priced competitively at USD $4,599.95.

Introducing the SP Neoprene Suit from DYNAMICNORD
Maximum freedom of movement and outstanding comfort
The SP series neoprene suits deliver incredible diving comfort to even the most demanding divers. Fabulous style included. Designed and engineered in Germany.
The smart 3D cut and the pre-shaped arms and legs not only ensure flexibility and a perfect fit, but also help you slip into the suit with ease. Cuffs on the arms and legs guarantee perfect sealing, which is further enhanced by the flap on the back zipper.
Zippers at the wrists and ankles provide additional comfort and ensure easy donning and doffing. The small neck zipper adds another layer of comfort.
The neoprene ribs in the back of the knees and crook of the arms are unique. The clever concept ensures optimum comfort when bending the arms or legs.
Shoulder and knee protectors protect the suit in high-wear areas. The small computer safety strap holds the device in place. The SP suit series is available for men and women in 5 & 7mm and offers a wide range of sizes including numerous intermediate sizes.
Every day, DYNAMICNORD works to keep its environmental impact as low as possible. Only the best available neoprene is used for the SP series of neoprene suits. It goes without saying that the neoprene is made from limestone. It is sourced from nature and has less negative impact on the environment. Furthermore, Carbon Black, one of the main components of neoprene, is pyrolysed from used tires. This reduces energy consumption and cuts CO₂ emissions by 200 grams per neoprene suit. Innovative dyeing machines reduce water and energy consumption during production by 60%.
DYNAMICNORD’s R&D department is constantly testing recycled materials and other next-generation sustainable components to become even more eco-friendly in all areas.
The different models in the SP series are now available from DYNAMICNORD dealers and in the online store.
